One of the great things that Father’s Day brings is how it helps to create one day for the family to celebrate all things that make a Father: a Dad.

In life, we go through different phases of a relationship with our Dad. When we were little, Dad was the hero who could do anything. Some Dads helped in brushing up their little girls’ hair, went through the pyjamas and tea party craze, and trained themselves to memorise each character of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (yes, I’m talking about Percy, Edward, Cranky, Toby, Henry and so on).

For some, they needed to re-live the nightmare of puberty and raging hormones that teenagers have, including the frequent mood change.

Then life became less hectic when the young adults started to get a job and even planned to move out of the house. Dads were always ready for some house calls to fix the broken pipe, giving advice on investment and even choosing the right drawer for the new house.

This cycle continues as young adults have their own family. The males find themselves in the same shoes as their Dads many years ago, with a new realisation that Dad’s love for their children will never change.
